Philadelphia: Education not Incarceration II

Comrades,

The Philadelphia LOC' s conference on Education not Incarceration held April 27th was a tremendous success. Over two hundred people registered, the majority were students and youth. We thank our BRC comrades who attended from out of town, Assata (Syracuse) and Sanjulio and two other Pittsburgh brothers.

This is not a collective report, but very brief report of my perceptions.
Each workshop had enough information and issues to comprise a separate conference. Each of the thirteen workshops suggested three priority areas. These were further defined for action in the four caucuses, Parents, Students, Educators and Community Activists whose job was to propose ways to implement the suggestions.

It is interesting to note that the students asked the parents to
participate in their Student Union meetings. In addition to adult support
they felt the adults might have more political knowledge and clout.
We are presently developing coalition partners in the varied political
communities, many of whom attended the conference.
